Come On Cable Industry Let's Do The "Right" Thing

and not the "WRIGHT/WRONG" thing.

I have a bone to pick with the cable tv industry. Let me state up front I was a veteran for many years both on the operating and programming sides. So I know how things work.

In these times, when every day brings a bout of bad news, and all eyes are on the election for a breath of fresh air - along comes the WRIGHT tapes. Clearly there is no limit to how much ratings growth can come from these images - but as a consumer - I HAVE HAD ENOUGH!

I know it must seem like manna from heaven to CNN and FOX and all of the other 24 hour news outlets but in their rush to increase quarterly profits - they are playing a very dangerous game. By that I mean GAMING THE ELECTION FOR A GOP WIN.

I won't go into the latest poll numbers mainly because if you are reading this - you already know the effect the endless playing of this material has had on the primary to elect a Democratic nominee and more for the race to the White House. Maybe that was not the goal - but it is the effect and does not appear to be stopping.

So I talked to my cable operator and asked them to ask the networks running this material to stop. I was told an outright LIE. "Cable Operators have no impact on what programmers do". Come On. It' s me you are talking to. If an operator does not already own you, cable network, you are in the minority and/or have some other form of leverage to horse swap with.

For years we have known the ONLY voice a cable network listens to is the voice of the distributor.

So come on now Comcast, TWC, Charter, COX and all you others. Cut it out already. Tell them to stop or stand the risk of undermining the only right we have left standing under our Constitution - the right to free elections for every American citizen.
